The other day I was putting the legs of a patio table together. When I got to the last leg, the pre-drilled holes on the leg didn’t seem to line up with the pre-drilled holes at the base of the table. How was I going to get the bolt in that holds the leg to the table if the holes don’t line up?
When we are lined up to heaven, blessings flow through. In the same way the bolt would fit through the holes if the holes were lined correctly, this is the position we too must be in if we want to receive anything from God.
1 John 5:14 This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us.
James 4:1 What is the source of quarrels and conflicts among you? Is not the source your pleasures that wage war in your members?
vs 2 You lust and do not have; so you commit murder. You are envious and cannot obtain; so you fight and quarrel. You do not have because you do not ask.
vs 3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures.
Position yourselves according to God’s will, and the blessings will pour in, like a bolt slips through two perfectly aligned holes in the boards.
