What Did You Do With Your Talents?

Blogging1

I haven’t been blogging for a few months now because I recently took a full time job in addition to some other side things going on, mostly just getting my house in order and trying to get together with family.

I was asked why I wasn’t writing and my response was that I blog when there is time to do it.  I think that is a wrong perspective.

I need to make that time.

I just gave a talk yesterday in the health food store where I work.  The topic was “The Seven Pathways of Elimination.”    Liver, lungs, kidneys, lymph, blood, skin, and colon.  The reason these pathways of elimination must remain clear is so that our bodies are continually ridding ourselves of the toxins we take in every day.

We need to be mindful of how our bodies are detoxing.  Eating to help flush waste, deep-breathing to assist the exchange of gas in our lungs (out with co2, in with oxygen), etc.  In the same way, we need to be in remembrance of spiritual detox, or repentance.  You cannot have physical energy if you aren’t ridding the body of wastes properly, but you will become spiritually sluggish if you aren’t repenting of the little things; and little things turn to bigger things.

We know this, right?

What about expressing what God has given?   While expression is not a release of toxins, it is a release of what God has given,  and without expression, it becomes toxic over time because the word of God is meant to be expressed, not suppressed.

Remember the man with 1,000 talents?  He hid them in the ground!  He thought it was good because he kept what was given to him tucked away all nice and neat and safe.

Matthew 25: 20 “So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.’
vs 21
His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
vs 22 – He also who had received two talents came and said, ‘Lord, you delivered to me two talents; look, I have gained two more talents besides them.’
vs 23 – His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’
vs 24
“Then he who had received the one talent came and said, ‘Lord, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed.
vs 25 And I was afraid, and went and hid your talent in the ground. Look, there you have what is yours.’
vs 26 – “But his lord answered and said to him, ‘You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed.
vs 27 So you ought to have deposited my money with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest.
vs 28 So take the talent from him, and give it to him who has ten talents.
vs 29 ‘For to everyone who has, more will be given, and he will have abundance; but from him who does not have, even what he has will be taken away.
vs 30 -And cast the unprofitable servant into the outer darkness. There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’

So I have been busy educating, working, spending time with family – ALL VERY GOOD THINGS – but I moved away from daily study, writing, meditating, reflecting.  WHY?

It all started with expression of what God has given.  God has given everyone a certain measure of talents.  Those who did something with them, had their talents increased.  I was looking for the likes and comments and interests of people as my gauge to whether my talent had increased and when I did not see interest in my blogging, I stopped and moved elsewhere – I stopped expressing what I heard the Lord give me.

It doesn’t matter who likes it.  It matters that it is profitable.  Not monetarily profitable.  The Kingdom’s currency is not money nor the approval of men.

It is having something MORE to express.  And once expressed, having even more.  God gives more revelation to those who turn the talent He gives into more.

Time to get to work!

Psalm 66: 16 Come and hear, all you who fear God,
And I will declare what He has done for my soul.
