I had this phrase roll through my mind this morning and it was heavy. I’m just going to publish my notes as I heard it and it rolls into a poem – it often does that and I don’t usually publish the notes leading up to a point but here, I felt to post them.
My meditation was on Psalm 12 – The fruit of our lips, the prideful tongue and then I saw religion, and every kind of food on the table.
June 12 –
There will always be witchcraft if religion is allowed
There will always be oppression if religion is allowed
There will always be perversion if religion is allowed
There will always be insanity if religion is allowed……
A church on every corner
Choose from your Smorgasboard
Catacombs that fancy
How they will serve the Lord
How shall you have Him served today?
Scrambled? Fried? Or baked souffle?
Fatty? Raw? Succulent? Lean?
Southern? Northern? East-West Cuisine?
Chocolate dark or chocolate milk?
Chocolate, white or fudge?
Choosing and rejecting
Let your palate be the judge
How will you have the Lord today?
Lift up collective voices
Quiet? Meek? Adorably weak?
We offer many choices
As long as religion is allowed
To keep it nice and neat
Evil slithers into homes and
Prances down the street
The god that’s in the catacombs
Can’t hear the selfish prayer
He’s in the darkness of the heart
Being served as fare.
Psalm 12: 1 Help,Lord, for the godly man ceases!
For the faithful disappear from among the sons of men.
2 They speak idly everyone with his neighbor;
With flattering lips and a double heart they speak.
3 May the Lord cut off all flattering lips,
And the tongue that speaks proud things,
4 Who have said,
“With our tongue we will prevail;
Our lips are our own;
Who is lord over us?”
5 “For the oppression of the poor, for the sighing of the needy,
Now I will arise,” says the Lord;
“I will set him in the safety for which he yearns.”
6 The words of the Lord are pure words,
Like silver tried in a furnace of earth,
Purified seven times.
7 You shall keep them, O Lord,
You shall preserve them from this generation forever.
8 The wicked prowl on every side,
When vileness is exalted among the sons of men.
Isaiah 29:10
For the Lord has poured out on you
The spirit of deep sleep,
And has closed your eyes, namely, the prophets;
And He has covered your heads, namely, the seers.
11 The whole vision has become to you like the words of a [a]book that is sealed, which men deliver to one who is literate, saying, “Read this, please.”
And he says, “I cannot, for it is sealed.”
12 Then the book is delivered to one who is illiterate, saying, “Read this, please.”
And he says, “I am not literate.”
13 Therefore the Lord said:
“Inasmuch as these people draw near with their mouths
And honor Me with their lips,
But have removed their hearts far from Me,
And their fear toward Me is taught by the commandment of men,
14 Therefore, behold, I will again do a marvelous work
Among this people,
A marvelous work and a wonder;
For the wisdom of their wise men shall perish,
And the understanding of their prudent men shall be hidden.”
15 Woe to those who seek deep to hide their counsel far from the Lord,
And their works are in the dark;
They say, “Who sees us?” and, “Who knows us?”
16 Surely you have things turned around!
Shall the potter be esteemed as the clay;
For shall the thing made say of him who made it,
“He did not make me”?
Or shall the thing formed say of him who formed it,
“He has no understanding”?
Psalm 19:4 Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart
Be acceptable in Your sight,
O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.
Father have mercy upon us today. May the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be pleasing to You and give glory to You. Have your way in me.
May the words of my mouth
And the meditations of my heart
Be pleasing to You
Pleasing to You
May the words of my mouth
And the meditations of my heart
Be pleasing to You my God
You’re my rock and my redeemer
You’re the reason that I sing
I desire to be a blessing in Your eyes
Every hour and every moment
Lord I want to be Your servant
I desire to be a blessing in Your eyes
