During the quiet moments at work yesterday, I heard a heavenly sound; heavenly but faint. I had to tune my ears in but it was clearly the sound of music where no music was playing and voices singing where no people were.
I leaned in a bit, trying not to breathe so I could hear if it was coming from the other side of our walls but it was not.
I started humming it and then singing what I heard. Although actual words were not clear, I joined in the chorus of the angels with the words it sounded like to me.
You are The living God
We praise You
You are The Righteous One
We trust You
You are The Holy God
We worship You
Over and over and over.
That was yesterday. This morning, this song was being sung in my heart.
I could have stopped there and been in awe that I heard the angelic voices yesterday and a song with my lyrics and their tune was playing in my head and heart this morning, but I know some of the ways of the One who I am in awe of.
Psalm 27:11 Teach me Your way, O Lord,
And lead me on a level path
Because of my enemies [who lie in wait].
Because of my enemies.
Worship and praise are weapons.
2 Co 10:4 The weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood]. Our weapons are divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses.
Psalm 149: 6 Let the high praises of God be in their throats,
And a two-edged sword in their hands,
vs 7 To execute vengeance on the nations
And punishment on the peoples,
vs 8 To bind their kings with chains
And their nobles with fetters of iron,
vs 9 To execute on them the judgment written.
This is the honor for all His godly ones.
Praise the Lord! (Hallelujah!)
There are weapons and tools fitting for every crime. There are praise songs fitting for every attack. We are given them PRIOR to attack.
What would an attack look like that would require me hearing an angelic choir at work and with words that sounded like the ones I sang? Why would I wake up with this song in my heart?
Sounds like He really wants me to know this for a specific reason.
He is a Living God – He surely will answer and act
He is a Righteous God – He surely will respond with justice upon enemies of the kingdom, and bring restitution to the oppressed, and the families of the slain
He is a Holy God – He is to be feared above all.
He is a Living God
We are in the 11th hour.
The 11th hour is when people get tired
The 11th hour is when people become discouraged and lose hope
The 11th hour is when it looks like the enemy is gaining advantage and the mockers mock “Where is your God?” “He isn’t coming”
Psalm 3:2 Many are saying of me,
“There is no help [no salvation] for him in God.” Selah.
The song in my heart will remind me in the 11th hour, that He is with me and many many more are with me than against me. He is good and keeps me from despair.
Psalm 27:13 I would have despaired had I not believed that I would see the goodness of the Lord in the land of the living.
He is a Righteous God
He upholds those who seek Him and keep their hearts pure and their hearts clean. When the enemies of the kingdom of God assail the people of God, His righteousness is imparted to those who have leaned upon Him to keep themselves of good conduct, so that there can be no blame. Righteousness is evident to all, even His enemies. We can trust that as we approach Him, He will also compare and contrast us.
It will be evident to all who His shining ones are.
Psalm 24:3 Who may ascend onto the mountain of the Lord?
And who may stand in His holy place?
vs 4 He who has clean hands and a pure heart,
Who has not lifted up his soul to what is false,
Nor has sworn [oaths] deceitfully.
vs 5 He shall receive a blessing from the Lord,
And righteousness from the God of his salvation.
He is a Holy God
Worshiping the Lord as holy brings a reverent fear of God to the worshiper. If you fear God, you will fear no other.
Not even your own iniquity, for He will remove it with fire as we approach the Throne room.
Isaiah 6:1 In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw [in a vision] the Lord sitting on a throne, high and exalted, with the train of His royal robe filling the [most holy part of the] temple.
vs 2 Above Him seraphim (heavenly beings) stood; each one had six wings: with two wings he covered his face, with two wings he covered his feet, and with two wings he flew.
vs 3 And one called out to another, saying, “Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord of hosts;
The whole earth is filled with His glory.”
vs 4 And the foundations of the thresholds trembled at the voice of him who called out, and the temple was filling with smoke.
vs 5 Then I said, “Woe is me! For I am ruined,
Because I am a man of [ceremonially] unclean lips,
And I live among a people of unclean lips;
For my eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.”
He is a Living God
He is a Righteous God
He is a Holy God
