Old poem I found today – from 1997. I am sure this is my first husband I write about and the poem was prophetic. He is gone to be with the Lord since this poem, and I am certain my declarations for him were instrumental in his salvation.
Once upon a time, a long time ago
Appeared a man in a vision
A man I well know
A man mighty of God, one humble and meek
Yet strong as he stood
Strong as he’d speak
He was not adored by those who would mock
But he walked with the Lord like a lamb in a flock
To do the Lord’s will, to heal and save
Was all he could give, it was all that he gave
But once upon a time a long time ago
Twas only a vision of the man I well know
For before he was humble, before he was meek
He was strong of himself and yet in himself weak
Loud and aggressive, demanding and bold
A hard man to capture, let alone hold
A wild-eyed stallion or a stubborn mule
A man that no other could push nor pull
Once upon a time a long time ago
I was given a vision of the man I well know
It was given to me so that I may abide
By the man I well know, through a turbulent ride
Each day as I watch the vision come to pass
I see more of a lamb and less of a
Mule.
